Job Description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Tustin, California. This role focuses on managing cash reconciliation, supporting month-end closings, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills and the ability to thrive in a high-volume transaction environment. Responsibilities: - Conduct daily and monthly cash reconciliations, ensuring accuracy in collections and disbursements. - Collaborate with accounts payable and branch teams to resolve cash balancing discrepancies. - Monitor cash transactions in Blackline to confirm the accuracy and completeness of imported data. - Prepare and post timely and accurate journal entries during the month-end close process. - Assist the accounting team with various activities during the month-end close cycle. - Engage in ad hoc projects, providing financial analysis and support as required. - Communicate effectively with branch managers to address and resolve financial issues. - Utilize accounting systems and software, including Blackline, to streamline processes and maintain data integrity. - Ensure proper follow-up on aged reconciling items and manage high-volume bank transactions. Requirements - Solid understanding of cash management processes, including daily reconciliations and resolving reconciling items. - Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger tasks. - Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to work with large data sets using tools such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies. - Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners. - Experience working in high-volume transaction environments while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
